Personalised Medicine

Description

The Personalized Medicine group of the Laboratory of Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy is active in delineating the moleculer genetic etiology of rare and common genetic disorders.

In particular, the group's research interests include the discovery of genes and genetic variations, as well as their association with the development of specific diseases, such as celiac disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, and also hemoglobinopathies. Moreover, we have previously demonstrated the feasibility of next-generation sequencing in pharmacogenomics to investigate the prevalence of pharmacogenomic biomarkers in Caucasian populations, whereas, various projects of our group focus on the investigation of epigenetic aspects to reveal the underlying mechanisms of drug response and genetic disorders.

Group leader: Dr. Evangelia-Eirini (Evira) Tsermpini
