Social Responsibility

The Laboratory of Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy, consistent with its mission, is actively engaged in activities that underline its commitment to social responsibility. In particular, the Laboratory is involved in the following activities:

A. Public engagement in Personalized Medicine

The Laboratory of Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy considers public engagement to be a key compoment to catalyze integration of personalized medicine interventions in routine clinical care. As such, we are committed in the organization of public engagement activities, such as informational events (please see the Conference section of this website), and science nights, where participants have the chance to raise their awareness about this emerging field.

Also, the Laboratory has produced published material where the basic notions of genetics and personalized medicine are explained in lay language so that they are better perceived by the public.

If you wish to get engaged in these activities, please contact us to arrange a meeting.

B. Genetic analysis for Greek ALS patients

As part of its active involvement in the Greek ALS Patients Association, the Laboratory offers to Greek ALS patients free-of-charge genetic analysis to identify variants in a number of genetic loci that have been shown to be correlated with the pathogenesis of the disease.
