The laboratory

The Laboratory of Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy of the University of Patras, Department of Pharmacy is the first academic Laboratory of Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy in Greece. Nowadays, although Pharmacogenomics is regarded as one of its most promising disciplines in modern medicine, it is barely covered by Greek Universities, while research and education in the field is limited. The Laboratory of Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy aspires to fill in this gap, while setting an precedent for the establishment of corresponding laboratories in other Universities and Research Centers in the country.

The laboratory was officially established in June 2018 (Government Gazette B’/2300/18-6-2018) and is active in the areas of research (including clinical trials), education and service provision in the field of Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy. The Laboratory is equipped with the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and instruments and is staffed by over 25 researchers, technicians, administrative staff, PhD students and postgraduate students.

The Laboratory of Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy is internationally renowned for its high-level research, in terms of wet-lab, dry-lab and public health genomics, all focused mainly on the field of Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine. It also covers research areas in Rare Diseases and Drug Outcomes.

The Laboratory of Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy has been successfully involved in many international consortia and research programs, and has had a large body of work published in international high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
